Carolina Tiger Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit wildlife sanctuary whose mission is saving and protecting wild cats in captivity and in the wild.

Sally quickly became a wonderful asset to Carolina Tiger in just a short time. Serving on the boards of numerous animal rescues and also working as a nonprofit consultant, Sally brings a unique skill to the sanctuary. She has introduced three new sponsors to Carolina Tiger Rescue’s Black Tie & Tails Ball and connected us with many more. Her willingness to jump right in and help this past year has made a huge difference – setting the tone for an awesome sponsorship year!  While Sally has moved back to England, she is still tracking down those last-minute sponsors and tying up loose ends. Sally’s willingness to share grant ideas, professional contacts, and advice has been greatly appreciated

Sally Newman has made a big impact in a short amount of time.

About Sally

  • Volunteer Position: Board Member

  • Time at Carolina Tiger Rescue: Sally began volunteering with Carolina Tiger in May 2016.

  • Favorite Animal: “I love all cats, big and small. Of the Carolina Tiger Rescue cats, Anthony Leopard joined CTR soon after I got involved and he is a beautiful cat. I do also have a special adoration for the three-legged serval, Elvis and I have a canvas print of him in my living room I purchased at the last Black Tie & Tails Ball.”

  • Favorite Memory: “The first twilight tour I took. As the sun went down, the vultures swept down and the moon was faintly present in the sky. Listening to the lions chuff in those surroundings was all very exotic!”

Virtual Field Trips

Education is key to our mission.  We enjoy teaching "kids" of all ages!  Our field trips, both virtual and onsite, are ideal for groups of kids.  Our "Kid for a Day" Adult Camp provides a unique learning opportunity while allowing adults to channel their inner child.  While all of these opportunities are structured differently, in the end we want everyone to walk away knowing more about the animals we care for and what they can do to help protect them.

Group Volunteering

There are so many ways to be a part of Carolina  Tiger Rescue.  Individual volunteers are able to help in many aspects of our work, including animal care, tour guides, construction, and gift shop assistance.  Work groups come from community groups, colleges, work places, and more!  It’s a great way to spend a day and it helps care for the cats.
