Bridget M. – Gift Shop and Summer Camp

Bridget joined the volunteer family in May 2019 and has logged nearly 300 hours since. Nearly half of those hours were in June and July of this year alone!  Before becoming a volunteer, Bridget was a camper at Carolina Tiger Rescue’s first summer camp.  This year, Bridget was a tremendous help with camp season. She was amazing with the campers, always eager to help with whatever the next task or activity was, and her passion for the animals of Carolina Tiger was evident in everything she did. The fact that she was a camper during our very first summer camp in 2012 made it that much more special. Thank you so much, Bridget! You’re amazing! Please help us congratulate Bridget and thank her for her time and dedication!

About Bridget

  • Volunteer Position: Gift Shop/Summer Camp Counselor
  • Time at Carolina Tiger Rescue: Bridget began volunteering in January of 2021 and has logged almost 180 hours
  • Favorite Animal: “I love all of the animals, but if I had to choose a favorite it would probably be Beau Cougar because he is so beautiful and although he is somewhat shy, he has an inquisitive personality which makes it especially fun to watch him play with enrichment.”
  • Favorite Memory: “My favorite memory at Carolina Tiger has been the ability to hear almost all of the animals. In the morning there are lions roaring and throughout the day you might hear a tiger roar in the distance or a bobcat calling. And then of course there are the less dramatic, but no less interesting, meowing of the servals and the caracals. I feel like hearing the animals allows me one more level of appreciation for the uniqueness of Carolina Tiger because the sounds and noises remind you that the tiger rescue is a living place with wild animals and those animals have things to say (plus how many times does someone get to hear a lion or tiger roar).”

Virtual Field Trips

Education is key to our mission.  We enjoy teaching "kids" of all ages!  Our field trips, both virtual and onsite, are ideal for groups of kids.  Our "Kid for a Day" Adult Camp provides a unique learning opportunity while allowing adults to channel their inner child.  While all of these opportunities are structured differently, in the end we want everyone to walk away knowing more about the animals we care for and what they can do to help protect them.

Group Volunteering

There are so many ways to be a part of Carolina  Tiger Rescue.  Individual volunteers are able to help in many aspects of our work, including animal care, tour guides, construction, and gift shop assistance.  Work groups come from community groups, colleges, work places, and more!  It’s a great way to spend a day and it helps care for the cats.
