Fig was rescued from a fur and urine farm, along with five other foxes. He was a little shier than the other foxes in quarantine, but he has really settled in since moving to his outdoor enclosure. Fig is curious and loves to listen to the sounds of the sanctuary. He has also been seen running along the fence with his neighbors.

How Fig Came to the Sanctuary
Fig started his life on a urine and fur farm in Ohio. He was kept in a wire cage so that his urine could be collected and sold. When this facility closed down in January 2025, Humane World for Animals stepped in to rescue the 480 animals that were living in dire conditions. We took in six foxes from this rescue.
Personality
Fig was a little shy when he first came to the sanctuary, but he quickly warmed up, especially once he was moved out of quarantine and into his outdoor enclosure. He likes sitting on his tall platforms and listening to the sounds around him. He is often seen playing with his enclosure-mate, Juniper, or running along the fence with his neighbors.
Description
Fig is a silver fox, meaning he has a darker coat. He is mostly black with flecks with silver fur. His back left foot is mostly white. Fig also has large ears with a notable chunk missing from his right one.
Urine Farms
Urine farms are, sadly, a legal operation in many places. They cram animals in wire cages where they can collect their urine. This urine is then sold to hunters and farmers to keep animals away from their crops.
