Tessa Stripes is our newest animal keeper here at Carolina Tiger Rescue. She studied wildlife biology at Virginia Tech. Before coming to Carolina Tiger Rescue, she interned at Wildlife Safari. Her favorite animals to work with are tigers! She enjoys giving the animals at Carolina Tiger Rescue a safe and appropriate home for them. It’s a hard and dirty job, but she loves it! Her favorite time of year at the rescue is the fall, when all the animals get pumpkins for enrichment!

Saber and Shira Tiger are exploring a new enclosure! Well, brand new to Shira and somewhat familiar to Saber. Saber and Shira have moved from Oak Hill to Pine Forest. They now live next to Tasha Tiger and just down the tour path from Kitwana and Zari Caracal. Saber actually lived in this enclosure before being introduced to Shira. Here you can see Saber in his transport crate ready for the move! Although he lived here in the past, there are new sights and smells to experience now, which is exactly why we chose to move the pair!

Enrichment is anything that changes up the animals’ days and keeps their minds and bodies active. Saber and Shira have shown us that they are happiest with extra enrichment. A new enclosure gives them that! Have you ever gotten tired of your room being a certain way so you move the furniture around and it suddenly feels brand new and exciting? That’s what moving enclosures does for Saber and Shira! With new smells, platforms, den boxes, neighbors, and more, there are endless opportunities for them to practice curiosity and explore. They have settled in well and, yes, they are still on tour meaning you can still meet them and hear their stories in person! If you can not make it to North Carolina, you can still get to know this duo by reading Saber and Shira’s profiles on our website!
