Carolina Tiger Rescue, formerly the Carnivore Preservation Trust, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit wildlife sanctuary whose mission is saving and protecting wild cats in captivity and in the wild.


Carolina Tiger Rescue is open to the public for guided tours, by reservation only.

From the East (Raleigh)

  • Take exit 293 A off I-40 onto US-1/Hwy 64 west
  • Go approximately 3 Miles and Exit onto Highway 64 West
  • Go approximately 17 Miles on Hwy 64 West, crossing over Lake Jordan and then the Haw River
  • Cross the Haw River, take the first left at mile marker #387 onto Foxfire Trace
  • Go 0.5 Miles and take a Left on Dee Ferrell Rd
  • Go to the end of Dee Ferrell and take a Left onto Hanks Chapel Rd.
  • Go 0.4 miles and Carolina Tiger Rescue will be on your Right

From the West (Siler City)

  • Take Hwy 64 East
  • Go 1 mile past exit #386
  • Take Right onto Foxfire Trace
  • Go 0.5 Miles and take a Left on Dee Ferrell Rd.
  • Go to the end of Dee Ferrell and take a Left onto Hanks Chapel Rd.
  • Go 0.4 miles and Carolina Tiger Rescue will be on your Right.

From the North (Chapel Hill)

  • Go South on 15-501.
  • Approximately 2 miles after crossing the Haw River, take the ramp onto Hwy 64 East toward Raleigh.
  • Go 1 mile past Exit #386.
  • Take Right onto Foxfire Trace.
  • Go 0.5 Miles and take a Left on Dee Ferrell Rd.
  • Go to the end of Dee Ferrell and take a Left onto Hanks Chapel Rd.
  • Go 0.4 miles and Carolina Tiger Rescue will be on your Right.

From the South (Sanford)

  • Go North on Hwy 15-501.
  • As you approach downtown Pittsboro you will reach a traffic light at the intersection of 15-501 and Moncure-Pittsboro Rd. There will be a “Detour / Local Traffic Only” sign at this intersection. Continue past the Detour sign to remain on 15-501 North.
  • Go 0.9 miles and turn Right on Chatham St.
  • Take the next Left on Masonic St.
  • Take the next Right on East Street (aka Business Hwy 64).
  • Go 1.7 Miles and take a Right on Hanks Chapel Rd.
  • Go 1.8 Miles and Carolina Tiger Rescue will be on your Right.
